Few months later, xinhuanet.com selected as one of the websites eligible to release news online.

After a year, Xinhuanet.com visited by Media Magnate Rupert Murdoch on January 4, 2001. Murdoch commended the English website of the Xinhuanet.com as the Best English Webpage he had ever seen in China for its rich content and beautiful design. As for Xinhuanet.com become more influential, Guagen encouraged the site to step up its efforts. 

On January 2002, there are some changes when Xinhuanet.com conducted its sixth face-lift, making several breakthroughs in its content, technology and services. The bandwidth has been widened to 300M-1,000M, which to exert a great impact on Internet media organizations. Also, the official website of "Bo'ao Asian Forum" was officially opened which was run by Xinhuanet.com. It is the one who is in charge of the website's long-term construction, updating, maintenance and management. 

The multi-media live-broadcasting service of Xinhuanet.com was approved by the central authorities to broadcast the major events on February 2002. It was the first time that video cameras of Xinhuanet.com were created. It draws the attention of domestic and foreign correspondents present on the occasion. It was on November 2002 when Xinhuanet.com released stories and information in five languages, namely, Chinese, English, French, Spanish and Russian in extensive cover of 16th CPC National Congress. Xinhuanet.com released an accurate, and timely reports, and by that, Xinhuanet.com exceeds 30 million hits, with the 120 million daily clicks.
